With a career spanning two decades in International Business Strategy, Scott has acquired expertise in recruiting, nurturing and leading market dominating teams at an Executive Level. His vast range of professional experiences has allowed him to excel at growing tech startups in bear market conditions and optimizing investment success.
Scott’s career began in retail property in Beijing, China where he had moved immediately after university. There, he established himself as the local expert in the burgeoning retail sector for foreign companies looking to expand to Mainland China. His client list included Allied Domecq, Morton’s Steakhouse and Starbucks.
Scott then moved to London where he was initiated into the startup world with a small American telecom company. One of his main accomplishments in the company was to negotiate and sign a deal between the government of India and its largest telecom providers. His success drew the attention of the founders of Skype. Scott was asked to join Skype and quickly worked his way up to the Executive level. He established and ran the telecom products, which represented 98% of the company’s total income. Being one of the first employees at Skype, Scott watched the company grow from zero to $800M in annual revenue.
Following the success of Skype, Scott rejoined the founders in a new venture - a music streaming company called Rdio, based in San Francisco. At Rdio, Scott was President of International Development and Partnerships. He opened offices globally and navigated his teams through the complex domain of global music rights and successfully launched the service in 80 countries worldwide.
Leaving San Francisco for New York, Scott joined the Executive Team of Knewton - a leader in education technology with the ambitious goal of changing education and improving students proficiency in subjects through adaptive learning.
The next phase in Scott’s career is to start and establish the project Experience Hub.
